The Challenge

Sage Software was positioned to move one of its office and data centers to a new facility in order to support continued growth and consolidation due to acquisitions. Sage was in need of an IT consulting company to bring experience and knowledge to the table to provide the peace of mind that the business will continue to run smoothly as the data center is consolidated and then moved.

The Solution

Sage Software partnered with iVision to support the activities around the data center move. These activities included:

Server Virtualization:   iVision eased the burden of the physical move by virtualizing 40 of the application and infrastructure servers prior to the move. By consolidating the server prior to the move, iVision was able to move 6 servers instead of 40.

Network Build Out:  iVision led the design and implementation of the core and access layer routers, the wireless infrastructure and the firewalls in order to provide a seamless move of the data center as well as the 300 employees.

Move Project Management:   iVision led the project management and coordination activities associated with validating the server inventory, designing the data center layout as well as the design and execution of the server move.

The Value

•  The virtualization of 40 Production servers over the three-week change period
    timeframe was deemed a ‘non-event’ by the Sage project manager due to the smooth
    nature of the change and the lack of issues reported.

•  The delivery management framework proved to be the foundation for the project. 
    Detailed discovery and design were critical to a successful execution. 

•  Sage was able to focus resources on more strategic efforts while they had confidence
    in iVision’s ability to deliver.
